Early Voting Is Happening Now for the 26 May Runoff Election
Early Voting Starts Monday. This one is going to be quick when you go to the polls. There are only 4 races that will appear on McLennan County ballots. We need you to get out and vote! These races are so important and picking the best candidate is absolutely vital. We set a strong election turnout pace by approximately tripling our 2024 turnout in the March Primary (FYI, that would be a little more than 6,000 Democratic votes). Lets keep that going in the runoff.
Who’s On The Ballot
Justice of the Peace, Precinct 5 - LucyAnn Sanchez-Miramontez incumbent is running against Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate owner, Leslie Edwards
US Congress. District 17 - Casey Shepard, a Waco Criminal Defense attorney who lives in Woodway is on the ballot and needs your vote. Milah Flores, also on the ballot, announced in March that she is withdrawing from the race and does not intend to run or serve. She has asked her supporters to vote for Casey Shepard!
Attorney General - On the Democratic side, state Sen. Nathan Johnson faces former Galveston Mayor Joe Jaworski in a runoff for attorney general. Johnson, a Dallas Democrat, has highlighted his legislative experience, while Jaworski has campaigned on expanding the party’s outreach to progressive voters.

Lt. Governor of Texas - Democratic voters will decide between state Rep. Vikki Goodwin of Austin and labor organizer Marcos Vélez in a runoff for lieutenant governor, one of the most powerful positions in Texas government. The office oversees the state Senate and plays a major role in shaping the Legislature’s agenda.
