Are you eligible to Vote-By-Mail?

In Texas, you can request to vote-by-mail if you meet at least one of the following criteria:

  1. You will be 65 years or older on election day.

  2. You will be out of the county during all of early voting and on election day.

  3. You are confined in jail (without an active felony conviction).

    • To be clear, once you’re “off papers” and you have served the full length of your felony conviction, including parole, you are eligible to vote, again.

  4. You have a disability that prevents you from getting to the polls. You do not need a doctor’s determination or government letter of disability.

    • As of May 27th 2020, the Texas Supreme Court issued a ruling that while lack of immunity alone does not qualify as a disability, “a voter can take into consideration aspects of his health and his health history that are physical conditions in deciding whether, under the circumstances, to apply to vote by mail because of disability.” (Texas Supreme Court No. 20-0394, page 22)
